A site solely devoted to Mount Kenya. Saying that it is a good site would be an understatement.Good job son!!!!!!!!!! A wealth of information for any adventurer wanting to scale the peaks of the mountain.

This web site is terrific. It is informative as well as recreational in that it helps you appreciate the beauty of our country. I guess it is thumbs up to the designers of the page.
Nostalgia. Reminescence. All five trips to Mt Kenya came flooding bak to my head when i looked through the photo album. All i can say is "Well Done, Brilliant job, it is guys like you that will put Kenya on the map for good!!"
The photos come up in seperate windows, it woudl be so much easier if you had a "next" and " previous" butons on these pages to make viewing so much easier. Hope this can be of some help. Otherwise keep up the wonderful work.

Mount Kenya is a very beautiful place. I have climbed Mount Kenya 3 times and i really enjoyed the scenery.
Latvian Direct of Normal Route (SE Face)to the Nelion (5188m.) and Via Gate of the Mists to the Batian (5199m.). + Point John South Ridge and Point John Minor Via Point John Couloir (N Side). This was first summit in our projekt "Second Highest Summits of the Seven Continents". Dates summited: 18.,19.January 2000
Mount Kenya is a very beautiful place. We hope to do the mountain again in the next few years.
It would be great to keep Mt Kenya clean and prevent non-biodegradable litter to be left on the range. Such a natural place, it would be good to keep it that way. I walked Mt Kenya in November 2000. Cheers!

I am planning to climb Mt Kenya to gain experience of altitude climbing, as well as for the adventure. I would be very grateful for some basic information in order to prepare.
Is there technical climbing required to reach the summit, and if so how much and what difficulty? What sort of equipment is advisable - what size and roughly what quantity of friends, bolts, pitons etc? What is normal summit temperature? Is there need for ice climbing gear?
Are there detailed maps of the mountain area available and if so where (at least 1:50 000 scale)?
What is water quality like on the mountain? Does it require filtering and chemical purification?
What time of year is best for a summit attempt? What are wheather conditions (amount of winds & rain/snow) and temperatures generally during different seasons?
Are climbing licenses required and if so where can these be obtained?
How many days do guided summit attempts usually consume?
Any other useful pointers? Any thoughts on climbing solo?
